The Percussive Arts Society Massachusetts Chapter announces its 2008 Solo Snare Drum Competition. The Competition will be held in conjunction with the 2008 Massachusetts Day of Percussion on October 19th, 2008 at the Boston Conservatory in Boston Massachusetts.
The competition will be divided into two age groups:
College Division (18 - 23 years of age)
High School Division (18 years of age and younger)
There will be two rounds both of which will be held on Sunday, October the 19th. The preliminary round will be held between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM and will be conducted behind a screen and will be closed to the public. The final round will begin at 3:45 and will be an open session to all Day of Percussion attendees.
Prizes:
First prize winner in each division will include a $100 cash award. Additional prizes will include drumsticks and accessories from Grover Pro Percussion, Innovative Percussion, Promark, and Vic Firth.
Applications:
The application deadline is October 1st, 2008. The number of applicants may be limited and will be considered based on the order of the applications received. To apply, complete the application form HERE and send along with a non-refundable application fee of $20 payable to PAS Massachusetts Chapter to:

Applicants are allowed to bring one concert snare drum of their own although there will be a drum and stand available for both rounds of the competition. Contestants are encouraged to bring practice pads for warming up as practice rooms will be limited.
