Eric Hewitt - Basano (2005)
Basano (the Greek noun for "torture") was written for Sam Solomon in the fall of 2005. It is meant to be a demonstration of torture for the performer and audience, as well as a commentary on the abstract concept of torture. It was composed on a dare.

Amateur composer Eric Hewitt is a Newton resident. He is an active conductor, saxophonist, and educator in the greater northeast. His work "for Gabriela on the day after her birthday party" for solo violin was premiered by the Harvard Group for New Music in February of 2007.
